Reserve An Order

  •  Determine whether you need a whole, half or quarter cow. Check our availability page to see if a steer is available and the next scheduled processing date. Pay the appropriate deposit which is required to confirm your purchase. Once we receive your deposit for the purchase, we will reserve that sale for you. Once you place your order, we will confirm our inventory and respond within 3 business days.  When the cow has been processed, all deposits are non-refundable.


  • Deposit amounts are as follows:

$350 for a Quarter cow

$700 for a Half cow  

$1500 for a Whole cow 

 

  •  The amount of your deposit secures your order and will be deducted from your final balance.  Total costs may vary by cow's finished weight, but the average is $2800-$3000 for whole cow, $1200-$1400 for half cow, and $650-$750 for quarter cow.

  • Our pricing is based on the finished weight of each cow. Finished weight is the weight of the cow once it has been processed into individual cuts packaged and ready for the freezer. 


  • The finished weight of our whole cows average 400-500 pounds but varies by individual cow. We charge approximately $6.50 per pound of finished weight.  You can expect 100-150 pounds per quarter.  


  • Each customer’s final balance is determined after processing. We will contact you after your cow is processed with an expected delivery date along with the final balance. The final balance must be paid prior to, or at the time the beef is delivered. We accept cash, check, or credit cards.

  • L.W. Smith Ranch processes grass fed black Angus dominant cattle. If you purchase a quarter, half or whole cow from us, we will process the cuts of meat popular for families. If there is any special request or questions, then please let us know by email. If there are not any changes to the normal order then you receive packages of every cut of meat found in the samples below. ( Each steak package contains at least two steaks. i.e, a pack of Ribeye would be (2) packages with (2) steaks in it.) Ground beef is in 1-1.5 lb packages.

The Pricing of Beef

  • Our pricing is based on the finished weight of each cow. Finished weight is the weight of the cow once it has been processed into individual cuts ready for the freezer. Some cattle farmers sell there beef by the hanging weight. Hanging weight is the weight of the cow as it hangs in the butcher's cooler once the head, hide, feet, organs and blood are removed. It still contains unusable fat and bone that will be trimmed and thrown away as it is finished. 
  • We sell by the finished weight so that you can do an apples-to-apples comparison. We challenge you to compare our prices to grass-fed beef at the grocery store. You will not only save money but be amazed by the freshness and amazing quality. 

 

  • What’s included? We offer customized whole, half, and quarter cow purchases. Our prices include all processing and butchering into individual cuts. Those cuts are butcher wrapped and frozen.

The Pricing of Beef

  • There are several premium cuts of beef that comes from the same parts of a cow. For specific cuts other than the suggestions listed, please contact us by email. Customization is available for whole and half cow orders. Limited customization is available for quarter orders but we will do our best to please you as our customer.

 

  • Quantities and availability of specific individual cuts will vary from cow to cow.   Many people only want steaks or roasts.  Some may want, ground beef and shanks.
  • Remember that you are buying an entire or equal fraction of an animal. However we will be happy to discuss what you want on your order.

  • Quartered cow orders are based on (4) customers buying 1/4 of the same cow. This is the most popular option especially for those who are beginning their journey into trying grass fed products. 


  • This order is processed in a way that serves 4 customers equally. We match the request so that all (4) customers get what they want and a whole cow is processed.


  • An alternative is to gather other family or friends to join in on a purchase to purchase a larger quantity. This allows even more flexibility and customization.
