In April 1949, (72) years ago, Lillian William Smith affectionately called "Bubba," purchased a farm now known as L.W. Smith Ranch. Although a man of limited education and little means, he engendered the industrious spirit of his time and against all odds, persevered over the next 8 years rearing 13 children and raising some of the best beef and pork you ever tasted. Along with that, He planted fresh vegetables that would feed his family. Corn, sugar cane and even tobacco added to the monetary gain needed to care for his family. As a man with great vision and precision, he continued in this vane and by November 1957, through his hard work and tenacious spirit he secured the deed to his 214 acre ranch. A feat coveted by many but acquired by few. His legacy has been continued down through the years among Bubba’s descendants. Today, his industrious spirit lives on in his children. L. W.
